Copenhagen welcomes first guest writer
Copenhagen City of Refuge could earlier this week welcome their first ICORN guest writer to the Danish capital. Iraqi Suhael Sami Nader has been persecuted because of his writings and was forced to flee to Jordan. Tuesday he and his wife arrived to Denmark and were officially welcomed by Pia Allerslev, Cultural Mayor of Copenhagen City.
Allerslev said in an interview with mx.dk that meeting Mr. Nader and his wife was deeply moving. The Cultural Mayor was proud that the city of Copenhagen now did something concrete in the fight for freedom of expression, as opposed to just talking about it.
