We are happy to announce that on 5 June 2013, Jönköping County Council signed the membership agreement with ICORN and thus became Sweden’s seventh city and second region to join the network.

Six Swedish cities are already members of ICORN and have so far hosted 12
persecuted writers: Malmö, Göteborg, Stockholm, Uppsala, Sigtuna and Växjö.

“The Region of Jönköping signing in with ICORN confirms a very positive trend in Sweden”, says ICORN director Helge Lunde. ”Now we are waiting with anticipation to see which of the cities in the north of the country will become the next ICORN member, Umeå, Skellefteå or Luleå.”
