Hatlaiha and Elhoria are a collaboration between Swedish jazz rock band Makten & Härligheten and ICORN rapper Khaled Harara, and will be released 21 May 2015.

The collaboration between the rapper Khaled Harara and the jazz rock band started as a guest performance on Makten & Härligheten’s album på mindre än en minut in February 2014.

In reality, however, Khaled Harara had been on the Swedish band’s radar for several years, after bassist Martin Holmlund heard an interview on Swedish radio between the rapper and reporter Cecilia Uddén.

The interview led to a collaboration between Harara and Makten & Härligheten on the soundtrack for Per Holmqvist’s documentary about the same Cecilia Uddén (Camelen). This again led to several joint performances at concerts, before Harara and Makten & Härligheten wrote Hatlaiha and Elhoria and recorded them with producer Christian Alsing. The result is a unique fusion between potent rap and live based, acoustic jazz and rock.

Khaled Harara arrived in Gothenburg as the city’s first guest musician in 2013.

Makten & Härligheten consists of:
Klas-Henrik Hörngren - keyboards
Carl Svensson - guitar
Mathias Bäckström - saxophone
Martin Holmlund - bass
Mårten Magnefors - percussion
Khaled Harara - rap

Hatlaiha and Elhoria will be released digitally on 21 May, and will be followed by a full album. Contact Martin Holmlund at info@maktenoharligheten.com or tel  + 46 0705-65 54 84 for more information.
