The 2010 regional human rights prize for Northern Jæren, Norway, has been awarded to former ICORN Guest Writer Mansur Rajih. The prize has been awarded annually since 1999, and this year's committee unanimously decided to award Mr. Rajih, who was Stavanger City of Refuge's Guest Writer from 1998-2000.
The committees decision cites that "the Prize Winner is a man who challenges injustice. Mansur Rajih’s story shows us the importance of human rights, and he has lived through grave human rights violations. Despite this struggle, he has kept his faith in humankind, and still believes in fighting injustice. Rajih still lives in Stavanger, and continues his work by participating in events and visiting schools sharing his story and his poetry."
