Barcelona

Through PEN Català, Barcelona was one of the cities present at ICORN's founding meeting in 2006. Barcelona was also part of the ‘Shahrazad’ project- a five-year cooperation between the European Union and six ICORN Cities of Refuge- Barcelona, Brussels, Frankfurt, Norwich, Stockholm, and Stavanger.

Barcelona has hosted nine ICORN residents, including Georgian Irakli Kakabadse, Algerian writer Salem Zenia, Tunisian writer Sihem Besedrine, Palestinian writer Basem Al-Nabriss, and journalists Juan Daniel Treminio and Jairo Antonio Martinez Videa from Nicaragua.
