An ICORN City of Refuge since 2022, Rosario was the first city in Argentina to join the network.

The official member of ICORN in Rosario is the National University of Rosario, one of the most important academic institutions in South America. The university’s research and development capacities have  made significant progress in all academic disciplines, widening its impact locally and nationally. The Faculty of Arts and Humanities is ICORN’s main partner in the university and in Rosario, combining academic and practical approaches to issues of human rights and freedom of expression.

The City of Rosario, located in central Argentina, is the largest city in the Santa Fe province and the third most populous city in the country. Rosario has a long democratic tradition and has long been a beacon of solidarity with those in need in the region and beyond.

With solid government and civil society institutions improving social, economic, political, and cultural rights globally, Rosario is a pioneer in the defence and promotion of human rights in Argentina.

The City of Rosario is a cultural hub with national and international reach, through its numerous cultural institutions and activities. It is the home to more than 20 museums, including the Juan B. Castagnino Fine Arts Museum, Firma y Odilo Estévez Municipal Decorative Art Museum, and Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Rosario – MACRo. There are also numerous cultural centres, theaters, and cinemas offering Rosario’s ICORN residents a wide range of professional and social development opportunities.
