Örebro is a city that offers diversity and boasts a large beautiful castle in the city centre.
Örebro is the sixth largest city in Sweden, located between the three large cities, Stockholm, Olso and Gothenburg. In recent years, Örebro has profiled itself increasingly as an art city. Not least through Open Art. OpenArt is Scandinavia´s biggest public art biennial, running for twelve weeks in Örebro. Contemporary art from all over the world is temporarily exhibited in the city center, for everyone to experience without an admission ticket.
The city offers a vibrant culture scene for both young and old, with art galleries, theaters and a music hall and much more. The civil society is very active both in the cultural and athletic sector.
The city of Örebro has 144.200 inhabitants, 73.162 women and 71.038 men. There are citizens from 165 countries inhabited in the city. (Numbers from the end of 2015). Örebro is a university city with around 17.000 students.
Örebro became a member in ICORN in 2016. There is a good base for a foreign artist to develop his/hers work in Örebro. The infrastructure with institutions and associations gives the artist a good opportunity to work and cooperate with others. We look forward to welcome and artist soon.
