For more than 18 years Kosar Fattahi has been persecuted for his writing. He was arrested several times for his use of the Kurdish language. In 1992 he was again the target of the Iranian authorities and he was forced to flee to north Irak as a UN refugee. He is a member of Kurdish PEN in Exile and the Association of Kurdish Writers in Iran. He was Oslo City of Refuge's guest writer from 2007 to 2009.
