Abdalla Basher is a Sudanese painter and visual artist who was born in Wad Madne in 1979. Basher graduated from the College of Fine and Applied Arts at the University of Sudan in 2014. Since the beginning of his career, Basher has been part of several group and solo exhibitions and workshops in Sudan and abroad, including Ethiopia, Egypt, Dubai, and Uganda.

Basher is an abstract artist who uses acrylic colours and a variety of techniques in his practice, including collages. His extensive travels within northern and eastern Africa have been instrumental to the nature of his work, inspired by life and the people around him.

As an engaged artist, he has contributed to the appreciation of contemporary art and culture in the region and has participated in several IOM and Save the Children workshops which intersect art with social causes, such as children's rights, development, and free expression.

In Khartoum, Basher's work has been exhibited at the Goethe Institute, the French Cultural Centre, Sudan's National Musuem, and Shams Art Gallery among others. His work has been included in exhibitions in galleries and cultural centres around the world, including the Al Mashrabiya Art Gallery and Access Gallery in Cairo.

Basher has received multiple awards for his work, including second prizes from the National Council for Culture and Arts of Khartoum in 2008 and the Sudanese Ministry of Arts and Culture in 2009.

Unable to continue as an artist in Sudan, Basher took up an ICORN residency in Örebro in 2021. He continues living and working in Sweden and his art has been exhibited in Sweden, Norway, and beyond.
